As you travel west, the tall pines are replaced by scruffy cedars. I've grown to love their textures. The stiff, strong limbs appear feathery and soft from a distance, reminding me that not everything is as it seems and two seemingly opposing characteristics can mysteriously co-exist in the complex design of nature.  Soft pastel landscape painting, 4"x 9".
