A few years ago I tried to plant a garden. We lived in a great climate for it but it was difficult work and my labors rarely survived the insects or the chipmunks. I have such a deeper appreciation for the long rows of crops which race past my car window these days. Such efforts are not light-hearted nor are they always justly rewarded, but the farmer persists and we eat. I am grateful.
